5.1 Basic functions in the File MenuAbschnitt hinzufügen
Save as
Via the menu item Save as, the storage options for the images as well as the storage options for the job are available.
Save As: The save dialog opens, a detailed description of each option can be found below.
Save as searchable PDF: The images are processed according to the OCR settings for the job and stored in a searchable PDF. The target directory as well as the name of the file can be selected and entered via the appearing dialog.
Create PDF and upload to DropBox: (Requirement DropBox Account) The images are uploaded to DropBox as a PDF file.
Unload job into file: BCS-2 jobs can be unloaded as a job for further processing at a later time or to be imported into another BCS-2 application. The images as well as all further existing job information are stored in a BCS-2 file, the name and the storage location of the file can be selected during the storage process.
(Save as DOCX: This item has no function and will be removed in future versions)
An e-mail with PDF attachment will be created according to the workflow settings. Subject, text and recipient can be customized before sending the email.
Prerequisite for the email delivery is an installed email program, as well as internet access.
The standard Windows printer window appears, in which a printer can be selected. The settings for printing are made via the corresponding printer dialog.
The print preview window is opened. In this dialog the result of the later printing can be checked and the settings for the pages can be adjusted.
The following functions are available via the toolbar (listed from left to right):
- Adjust view of the printed page (fit width/fit page/zoom in / out)
- Determine the orientation (portrait, landscape) of the image
- Navigate between the images of the print job to control or adjust them
- Adjust view of print preview (one page / two pages, / show four pages in the viewer)
- Page setup
- The Page Setup dialog allows you to select paper size, source, and print size, and to define page margins.
Browse SFTP Server:
The Browse SFTP Server dialog is opened, the functions and options are explained below.
Exit:
The BCS-2 application is terminated.
5.2 Save asAbschnitt hinzufügen
In the Save dialog the storage location as well as the export format for the images can be determined.
First, the location for the file can be selected by navigating to the desired drive and folder, it is also possible to create new folders.
Then the export format has to be selected to save the images accordingly, in case of the zip and PDF exports the name of the file has to be entered bevor the files can be saved.
5.2.1 Settings for JPEG export
After selecting a directory, which name is shown in the corresponding dialog/line beneath the file viewer, the JPEG images can be saved by pressing the button Choose. The JPEG quality can be defined beforehand in the settings.
- JPEG quality: The JPEG quality of the images can be defined, with 100 being the highest selectable quality. The level of quality affects the file size and quality of the resulting image. (The higher the quality, the larger the image file and the higher the quality of the images (less artifacts))
The images can be stored in an existing folder or in a newly created folder via the dialog. The numbering of the images in the folder corresponds to the order of the images in the job. (Simple numbering without leading zeros)
Binary (1 bit) images can´t be saved as JPEG files. They are automatically converted to 8-bit JPEG images during the storage process.
5.2.2 Settings for TIFF export
After selecting a directory, which name is shown in the corresponding dialog/line beneath the file viewer, the TIFF images can be saved by pressing the button Choose. The following additional options are available for saving the images as TIFF files:

- Create binarized images using the set page thresholds: Grayscale / colour scans are converted to black and white images before being saved. The respective stored threshold value (default value 128) is used.
- Compress images using LZW: To compress the TIFF files the lossless compression method LZW is used.
The images can be stored in an existing folder or in a newly created folder via the dialog. The numbering of the images in the folder corresponds to the order of the images in the job. (Simple numbering without leading zeros)
5.2.3 Settings for PNG export
After selecting a directory, which name is shown in the corresponding dialog/line beneath the file viewer, the PNG images can be saved by pressing the button Choose. The following additional options are available for saving the images as PNG files:
- Create binarized images using the set page thresholds: Grayscale / colour scans are converted to black and white images before being saved. The respective stored threshold value (default value 128) is used.
- Compress images: The PNG files are compressed when they are saved.
The images can be stored in an existing folder or in a newly created folder via the dialog. The numbering of the images in the folder corresponds to the order of the images in the job. (Simple numbering without leading zeros)
5.2.4 Settings for PDF export
After selecting a directory the name of the PDF file has to be entered in the box File name before the PDF creation can be activated via the button Save. Following additional settings are available for saving the images in a PDF file.
- Binarize grayscale and color images: Grayscale / color scans are converted into black and white images before the PDF is created
- Convert grayscale and color images to JPEG: Grayscale / color scans are converted to JPEG files with the quality defined in the corresponding box JPEG quality. The conversion to JPEG before creating the PDF reduces the file size of the PDF.
- JPEG quality: Here, the JPEG quality of images can be determined, with 100 being the highest selectable quality. The level of quality affects the file size and quality of the resulting image.
- Bookmark-Template: The template for the bookmark in the PDF file can be selected. The default value is Page $ page.pageNumber $, in this case the pages in the PDF are listed as Page 1, Page 2 … The drop-down list can be used to select an alternative name for the pages
The PDF file can be stored in any directory after a name has been assigned to the file.
5.2.5 Settings for ZIP export
After selecting a directory the name of the ZIP file has to be entered in the box File name before the creation of the ZIP file can be activated via the button Save. Following additional settings are available for saving the images in a ZIP file
- Binarize grayscale and color images: Grayscale / color scans are converted into black and white images before the ZIP is created.
- Convert grayscale and color images to JPEG: Grayscale / color scans are converted to JPEG files with the quality defined in the corresponding box JPEG quality. The conversion to JPEG before creating the ZIP reduces the size of the ZIP container.
- JPEG quality: Here, the JPEG quality of images can be determined, with 100 being the highest selectable quality. The level of quality affects the file size and quality of the resulting image.
5.3 Browse SFTP ServerAbschnitt hinzufügen
Via the menu item Browse SFTP server … the dialog window FTP Browser is opened.
The browser can be used to check the connection to a server or to download files from a server and then import tem into the job via Drag & Drop or the import functions. . The upload via SFTP/FTP is configured in the Transfer Targets of the workflow.
In dialog area Remote Host the following data must be entered.
- Host: Server name or the IP address
- Port: (default is 22)
- User: user ID
password: password to connect to the server
Over the respective checkboxes the options
- Switch to FTP Mode: Switch from SFTP to FTP Mode.
- FTP: Passive Mode
can be activated.
Via the button Connect the connection to the server is created.
In the Files and Folders part of the dialog it is possible to navigate to the desired storage folder and files, after a successful connection to the server. Folders can be opened by double-clicking or via the corresponding button. Files can be selected to be downloaded or displayed, for these actions following buttons are also available below the file display:
Show as text: Show selected file in a text Editor
Open: Open the selected folder
Download: Download selected file
Insert into current job: Insert the downloaded images into the current job. The images will be placed behind the currently selected and displayed image.
